NEW ....The Society for Airway Management is pleased to announce its 12th Scientific Annual Meeting and Hands-On Workshops to be held Sept 19-21th, 2008 at the Seaport Hotel, Boston, Massachussetts. The meeting hosts a multidisciplinary group of anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists, and otolaryngologists interested in the advancement of airway management. NEW ....SAM is proud to announce that this year’s recipient of one of SAM’s first $5,000 research grants is Ling Qun Hu, M.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University. Dr. Hu graduated from Zheijiang University School of Medicine, as one of the top three universities in China and received a medical degree in 1984. He has had twenty years of research experience in both internal medicine and anesthesiology and has collaborated with many others in his present work on predictive measures of a difficult airway. This grant will help him with his most recent project, “A Mathematical Model with Three New Anatomical Angles to Predict Difficult Airway in Normal Appearance Patients.”

These funds may help worthwhile studies that may not otherwise start without financial assistance. The application deadline has been extended to September 1, 2008.
